Two of the biggest worship voices in Nigeria in one song, for almost sixteen minutes. That alone explains why “Promise Keeper” has not left church playlists since July.
Mercy Chinwo released it with Nathaniel Bassey, and on her official Audiomack page it has already crossed 1.3 million plays. BellaNaija noted that parts of the song feel like a live church service.
Mercy said she was “deeply honoured” to share the record with him. Nathaniel went further: “It’s like a whole service! It will speak to your heart.”
If her newer single “My God, You Are Good” blessed you, set aside some quiet time for this one. Watch the official video, then stream it from the player at the end.
Why “Promise Keeper” speaks to the waiting season
The song is a declaration of trust in the faithfulness of God. BellaNaija described it as a reminder that His mercy, favour and goodness stay the same even when life is uncertain, and an invitation to keep holding on to promises that have not yet come to pass.
Nathaniel Bassey called it “a declaration of God’s covenant loving kindness and steadfastness,” while Mercy’s prayer is that listeners know God is faithful to every promise He has made.
