Nollywood’s Sunshine Rosman graduated from UNILAG after 7 years and now she’s eyeing lead roles in Indian and Spanish movies. Here’s the gist.
So Sunshine Rosman finally graduated. And honestly, it’s been a long time coming.
The Nollywood actress just wrapped up seven years at the University of Lagos, and if you’re wondering why it took that long, well, life happened. She was juggling school with an actual acting career the whole time.
She shared the news on Instagram, posting photos from her sign-out day and writing, “These past 7 years have been challenging, but we overcame & we really did it together!” You could practically feel the relief in that caption.
Here’s the thing though. Rosman wasn’t just balancing books and scripts for fun. Back in 2025, she told The PUNCH that she was literally studying for her exams when the call came in for Kemi Adetiba’s “To Kill a Monkey.” Imagine that pressure. Do you defer a semester for a big Netflix role, or do you push through and hope you can do both? She chose both. Wrote her exams, then jumped straight into filming, where she played Amanda Sparkles.
Now that school is behind her, Rosman’s not slowing down. If anything, she’s thinking bigger. In a chat with AY Makun, she opened up about wanting to lead an Indian or Spanish film someday. And she’s not just saying it for the fun of it, she actually believes she has the look for it.
“I’ve seen that I can play an Indian character very comfortably,” she said, pointing to her features. She’s also open to playing a Spanish character. And get this, she said she’d happily spend a year or two learning a new language if that’s what it takes to nail an Indian role properly. That’s commitment.
It kind of makes sense when you know her background. Rosman describes herself as Nigerian-Canadian. Her mum is from Imo State, and her late dad, Giovanni, was Canadian with Italian roots. So this whole idea of stepping into different cultures isn’t totally new to her, it’s sort of already in her blood.
She grew up bouncing around Lagos, Surulere, Magodo, Bode Thomas, and started acting professionally way back in 2015 with “Lunch Time Heroes.” Since then she’s built a solid resume with projects like “When Love Strikes” and “Our Best Friend’s Wedding.”
Degree in hand, dreams even bigger. Bollywood or Spanish cinema might just be next for her.
