Carolyna Hutchings has quit Real Housewives of Lagos after four years, saying her castmates were never really her friends. Here’s the full story.

So here’s a bit of drama that’s got people talking today. Carolyna Hutchings, one of the original Real Housewives of Lagos cast members, just announced she’s done. Finished. Four years on the show, and she’s walking away for good.

But here’s the part that’s really got everyone buzzing, she didn’t just say “I’m leaving.” She went further and basically told the world that none of her castmates were ever her real friends. Not one.

Hutchings dropped this whole thing in a long Instagram post on Monday. And you can tell she wasn’t just casually announcing an exit, she sounded genuinely tired. She said being on a reality show in Nigeria is exhausting, and honestly, who could blame her for feeling that way after four years of cameras following her around?

What’s interesting is that RHOL actually stopped filming new episodes back in early 2025. So for over a year now, Hutchings has basically been living under a shadow of a show that isn’t even airing fresh content anymore, yet people keep tying her name to whatever drama is happening with the other cast members. That’s the part that seems to have pushed her over the edge.

She made it clear that whatever “friendship” viewers thought they saw on screen was never real. In her words, “None of the cast members is my friend.” She explained that she’s naturally an introvert, and being nice to people on the show never meant she considered them close. She said she connects with people whose energy matches hers, and apparently that circle doesn’t include her castmates.

She also touched on something a little deeper. She said the show had started shaping how people saw her, not just as a public figure, but even as a mother, in ways that don’t actually reflect who she is. That’s a heavy thing to carry for years. “The show was a chapter of my life that I enjoyed. That chapter is closed. It is a new dawn,” she wrote.

For context, Hutchings was part of the original RHOL cast when it launched on Showmax back in 2022, alongside names like Iyabo Ojo, Laura Ikeji Kanu, and Toyin Lawani. She skipped season two, then came back for season three when the show moved to Africa Magic in January 2025.

Outside of reality TV, though, she’s not exactly new to the entertainment world. She’s been in Nollywood for two decades, acted in over 60 films, and runs her own production company, Afrivista Films. She says that’s where her focus is now, with ten new film projects already in the pipeline.

Honestly? Sounds like she’s ready to stop being “the reality star” and go back to being “the actress.” Can’t say that’s a bad trade.
