Omawumi, born in Delta State and proudly from Warri, has been part of Nigerian pop for well over a decade. “I Go Go” is one of the early singles from her catalogue.
It came out as a single in May 2011, with Cobhams Asuquo on production, and later found a home on her 2013 album “Lasso of Truth”. Clarence Peters directed the music video.
It is one of the songs that sit on her official Audiomack page, right next to classics like “If You Ask Me” and “Warn Yourself”.

So who is Omawumi telling “I Go Go”?
The song is about love that is not returned. Wikipedia describes it as a reggae flavoured track on unrequited love, sung in pidgin, and the title says it plainly: “I go go”, meaning I will leave.
So the heart of the song is a decision to move on from a love that is not coming back her way, told in the everyday pidgin many of us speak at home.
