Davido Vows To Defend Uncle’s Re-election As Osun State Prepares For August Polls

Global music  Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has taken a stand in the political arena of Osun State.


On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the singer publicly confirmed his strong support for his uncle,  Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, as the state prepares for the highly awaited  governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.


Davido, who is currently generating excitement for his upcoming performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup countdown concert, used his social media platform to send a clear message to those who might consider interfering with the democratic process.


‎‎The artist took to his Instagram Story to share a powerful video featuring Nnenna Otti, a former Resident Electoral Commissioner known for her outspoken stance against electoral malpractice.

By reposting this clip, Davido draws attention to the importance of conducting a transparent and fair election.

He gave a warning to anyone planning to engage in vote rigging, stating that he would not sir and watch the  electoral process being compromised.


‎His message was both direct and willing ready, reflecting his dedication to ensuring his uncle’s political future.

“August 15, anybody wey try rig go collect in the highest order. I will be in the field to defend our votes. I will be in the field to defend our votes. Keke must be used if need be!!! @aadeleke_01, I’ve got your back, sir!” he wrote.

He continued with a vow to be physically present on the ground to oversee everything, stating that those who attempt to manipulate the results will face severe repercussions.


‎By referencing the use of a “keke” a common tricycle in Nigeria Davido illustrated his readiness to engage in whatever means necessary to ensure that the electoral process is monitored effectively and that the will of the people is upheld.


‎Earlier this year, in April 2026, the political landscape shifted when Governor Ademola Adeleke appointed his nephew as the head of youth mobilization for the Accord Party campaign council.


‎This move came shortly after Davido officially joined the party, Davido’s involvement has added a significant layer of attention to the upcoming August election.

Furthermore, the singer recently launched the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council, an action aimed at rallying the younger generation in Osun State to support the Governor’s coming re-election.
