Nollywood actress Laide Bakare says she overheard something that scared her about her sons’ safety at her ex-husband’s home. Here’s what she’s asking for.
Laide Bakare is asking for help to protect her two sons. The Nollywood actress says she overheard her ex-husband’s wife telling a child to hurt the boys in a way that wouldn’t leave marks.
She shared this in a video on Instagram, and it’s the kind of claim that’s hard to scroll past.
Laide says she was in Saudi Arabia for Umrah when she overheard a conversation at her ex-husband’s house. According to her, the woman was speaking to one of the boys in the home. The message was to avoid beating her sons in a way their father could notice, and to hold them by the neck instead.
She says she has a recording. But it hasn’t been made public, so no one outside her circle has heard it.
Laide says she’s complained to her ex-husband several times and nothing has changed. In her telling, he’s so devoted to his wife that he brushes the complaints aside. She also says he’s kept the boys away from her as a kind of punishment.
There’s more. She claims he won’t let her renew their passports, so she can’t take them to America or have them live with her.
She admits she stayed quiet for a long time. Social media wasn’t where she wanted to take this. Her one request is simple: she doesn’t want her sons living with their stepmother.
She also described the woman as pleasant in public but different in private. That, she says, is why many people assume Laide is the one at fault.
Reports say this is happening during an ongoing custody dispute. Laide has three children: a daughter from her first marriage and the two boys from her second.
Ahead of her birthday, she also asked her followers to pray for her sons’ protection. So this has clearly been weighing on her.
These are allegations, and nothing has been independently verified. At the time of reporting, her ex-husband hadn’t responded.
For now, it’s one mother’s account and a recording nobody has heard. Whatever the full truth turns out to be, there are two children at the center of this. Their safety is what matters most.
