Femi Adebayo just opened a new film hub in Lagos, and Deputy Governor Hamzat did the honours. Here’s why Nollywood fans are excited ahead of Detty December.
Femi Adebayo has a new film hub in Lagos, and he’s glowing about it.
The actor and filmmaker opened the space in central Lagos, just as the city gets ready for the Detty December rush. Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, was the one who officially commissioned it.
Femi shared the news on Instagram, and you can feel how much it means to him. He said it’s something he’s dreamed about for a long time, and now it’s real.
He also posted pictures from the ceremony and made sure to thank the family members who showed up for him. When a big day like this happens, it’s the people in the room that count, right?
His post got personal. “Today, I get to celebrate a dream that started as a vision and has now become a living reality,” he wrote.
Then he added the line that stayed with me: “This is more than a launch. It is a moment of becoming.”
Femi isn’t new to this. He’s been acting, producing and directing for years, with Yoruba-language films and bigger Nollywood projects under his belt. So when someone with that kind of track record builds something new, people notice.
The timing helps too. December in Lagos is packed with parties, shows and people flying in from everywhere. A fresh film space opening right before all that feels well planned, and fans and colleagues have been congratulating him online. Many say it’s a great addition to the city’s entertainment scene.
To be fair, his post doesn’t go into what’s inside the hub or how filmmakers can use it. That’s the part I’m curious about, and I’d guess a lot of you are too.
Still, it’s a good feeling to see a Nollywood name building something solid instead of just talking about it. Whatever comes out of this place, the story already carries a nice reminder. Sometimes the dream you’ve held onto for years does show up.
