Adeyinka Alaseyori, the minister many people still connect with “Oniduro Mi”, has teamed up with BBO on a long worship piece called “Ipe (The Calling)”. It runs for more than 26 minutes, so this is one to settle into rather than rush through.
“Ipe” is Yoruba for “call”, and the whole song rests on that one word. It speaks about being chosen by God for an assignment, and the singer’s own note on the release points to stewardship and the mercy behind that choosing.
The message is a humbling one. A calling is treated as a gift of grace and not a badge of status, so the right answer to it is gratitude and humility instead of pride.
Find a quiet moment, play “Ipe (The Calling)” below and reflect on your own calling with Adeyinka Alaseyori and BBO.
