Victor AD went back to the faith lane this year, and he brought Timaya along for the ride.
NotJustOk described “Only God” as a mid-tempo, guitar-led Afro-fusion record, not a club song. Victor AD carries the verses while Timaya’s rough, familiar voice holds the chorus. The track now sits on his album The Therapist and has passed 3 million plays on his official Audiomack page.
Reviewers were quick to compare it with “Wetin We Gain”, the 2018 hit that made his name. For Timaya fans, it is another Niger Delta link-up after “Kontrol” with Duncan Mighty.

The fatherless story behind “Only God”
According to The Lagos Review, the song tells Victor AD’s own story of growing up without a father, with God and his mother as the two people he could always count on. It moves from memories of hard times to thoughts about purpose, while Timaya’s verse is about gratitude.
Victor AD put it plainly: “This song is my story in its simplest form.” He added that it is “about trusting God when you have nothing else, and knowing He is enough.”
