After opening The Life Recording with “Agbanilagbatan,” Nathaniel Bassey moves into “Praise The Lord,” the second track on the new project.
The song is exactly what the title says. It is a straightforward call to praise God, with Nathaniel leading listeners into an atmosphere of thanksgiving and worship. There is no need to overthink this one. It is simply about giving God praise and recognising His goodness.
What makes this release interesting is the story behind The Life Recording itself. Nathaniel Bassey had announced the project as a live worship experience, explaining that the album was recorded around an experience of the “River of Life” and that he wanted listeners to experience that same atmosphere through the music. The project was scheduled for release on August 14, 2026.
And you can already see that idea in the tracklist. “Praise The Lord” comes immediately after “Agbanilagbatan,” followed by “The Battle Belongs to God Praise Medley,” “The Potentate,” “Glory to God in the Highest,” “Onye Kam Ga Si Na Oyiri Gi” featuring Mirabel Ekezie, and “New Beauty.”
This is also a nice reminder of something Nathaniel Bassey has consistently done with his music. He knows how to turn simple words of praise into songs that people can easily join in with. His music has become closely associated with worship gatherings and the wider Hallelujah Challenge movement, which has brought his praise sessions to a global audience.
If you’re already listening to The Life Recording, “Praise The Lord” is one of those tracks you can easily sing along to. Put it on when you’re getting ready in the morning, during your personal devotion, or whenever you simply want to spend some time praising God.
