Nathaniel Bassey has just released a brand new worship project titled The Life Recording, and the first song on it is “Agbanilagbatan.” The project dropped today, August 14, 2026, and contains seven tracks.
If you’ve been following Nathaniel Bassey’s music, you already know that he doesn’t need to make worship complicated. Give him a trumpet, a good worship atmosphere and a simple message about God, and he knows exactly what to do.
“Agbanilagbatan” sets the tone for the whole project. The Yoruba word refers to the One who delivers completely, an expression used in reference to God.
And that message is what makes the song stand out. It is basically a declaration of who God is as the One who saves, delivers and does not leave His work unfinished.
What I also like about this release is that it is presented as a live recording, rather than just another studio track. You can expect that worship atmosphere that Nathaniel Bassey is known for, with the music giving room for the message and worship to breathe. The song opens The Life Recording, with “Praise The Lord” coming next, followed by “The Battle Belongs to God (Praise Medley),” “The Potentate,” “Glory to God in the Highest,” “Onye Kam Ga Si Na Oyiri Gi” featuring Mirabel Ekezie, and “New Beauty.”
There is also something interesting about the name Agbanilagbatan itself. It isn’t a random title. The Yoruba word literally carries the idea of someone who delivers people completely, and it is used as an epithet for God.
So if you’re looking for a new gospel song to start your day with, or you simply want something that puts you in a worship mood, “Agbanilagbatan” is a good place to start.
