Some worship songs are planned for months. “Breathe Upon Me” started as a freestyle in the studio between Neon Adejo and his producer, Magical Andy, and it went on to become one of the songs people know him for most.
It first appeared on his Songs Of Gratitude EP in 2021. Two years later he put out a fresh single version, “Breathe Upon Me (Teach Me How To Pray)”, and a remix with Naomi Parchment followed.
The Nigerian-born minister signed with Tribl Records, the home of Maverick City, in March 2025, a new chapter for a song that began so simply.

How a studio freestyle became a prayer
The song is about how much a believer needs God, and the idea that we must keep growing in His presence. Looking back on how it spread, Neon Adejo put it this way: “All I did was gave God my little, he blessed it, multiplied it and now the world is been blessed by it.”
