By the time you get to “Glory to God in the Highest,” the fifth track on Nathaniel Bassey’s new The Life Recording project, the message of the album is becoming very clear. This is a project built around praise, worship and giving God all the glory.
The interesting thing about this particular song is that “Glory to God in the Highest” was already released as a standalone Nathaniel Bassey song in February 2026, with the earlier release running for about 11 minutes. It also featured prominently in Nathaniel’s worship ministrations earlier this year.
Now the song has a place on The Life Recording, the live worship project Nathaniel Bassey released on August 14. Before the album came out, he mentioned “Glory to God in the Highest” as one of the songs listeners should expect from the project. He described The Life Recording as a live worship experience that came out of what he called an experience of the River of Life during the recording.
And honestly, the title says almost everything you need to know. “Glory to God in the Highest” is simply a song of praise. It points attention away from man and back to God, giving Him the credit for His goodness, greatness and everything He has done.
It also fits nicely into the flow of The Life Recording. The project starts with “Agbanilagbatan,” followed by “Praise The Lord” and “The Battle Belongs to God (Praise Medley).” Then comes “The Potentate,” before this fifth track. The remaining songs are “Onye Kam Ga Si Na Oyiri Gi” featuring Mirabel Ekezie and “New Beauty.”
For people who have followed Nathaniel Bassey’s music and the Hallelujah Challenge, this kind of praise is already familiar. He has built a strong reputation around creating songs and worship sessions that people can easily join, whether they are in church, at home or worshipping online.
But there’s something nice about having this song on a live project. You don’t just get the words and melody. You get the feeling of being part of a worship session where everyone is simply focused on giving God praise.
If you’re listening to The Life Recording from the beginning, “Glory to God in the Highest” is a fitting track to pause on and just worship.
