Old school Isoko highlife lovers, this one is for you. Chief Iney Ugussey, the man many of us simply know as Ugussey, is back on streaming with a cleaned up version of a song first released in 1980.
On the official release he shares the credit with The Isoko Lyric Master’s Band, Lagos, a reminder that some of our great Isoko bands were working far from home. At eighteen minutes, “Egbile Isoko” is a long ride, the way highlife records were made back then.
The remaster comes from Unearthed African Recordings, the same company that brought back Popular Cooper’s “Uguse, Ogbaile Isoko”. If you want more Ugussey, his “Kwunu Rerie” is also on iSokoVibe.
Play the official audio below and take yourself back to the golden days of Isoko highlife.
