Old tweets where he criticised some of Nigeria’s biggest music stars started circulating again. Instead of ignoring the noise, he went on X on September 24 and said sorry.
Mavo explained that when he first got to university, he was a pretty harsh entertainment critic online. Then he noticed something. Superstars don’t really lose sleep over Twitter.
So he stopped, put everything into his own music, and says life has been “bliss” since.
But he didn’t leave it there. He admitted his words may have hurt people, even though that was never the plan. “I’m honestly sorry,” he wrote.
Here’s what makes it interesting. Mavo says he’s since met most of the artistes he used to talk about, and they turned out to be “amazing people.”
That changed how he saw them. He apologised for misjudging them and ended his message with three simple words: “Let love lead.”

Mavo’s real name is Oseremen Ukanigbe. He started his professional music career in 2023 with his debut project, Ukanigbe.
His big moment came in 2025 when “Escaladizzy” took off. The song introduced his unique slang and sound to a much wider audience. Since then, he’s put out more projects and worked with big names like Davido, Wizkid and CKay.
Whatever you think about the old tweets, the apology says something about where Mavo is today. He’s a young artist who chose to focus on his craft and admit when he got things wrong.
