Some records carry a whole era inside them. “Ikpereza” is the title song of Ugussey’s 1980 LP, the same album that gave us “Egbile Isoko”.
More Songs
Collectors’ catalogues list more than a dozen vinyl releases from Ugussey and his band between 1973 and 1985, with titles like “Ugussey Warns His People” and “Eme Okpako Ubi”. “Ikpereza” sits right in the middle of that busy run.
For years you needed an old turntable to hear it. The 2024 remaster has now put it on streaming, so the younger ones can finally hear what their parents were dancing to. It is fourteen minutes long, so settle in properly.
Play the official audio below and let Ugussey take you back to 1980.
