After opening The Life Recording with “Agbanilagbatan” and “Praise The Lord,” Nathaniel Bassey takes things up another level with “The Battle Belongs to God (Praise Medley).”
This is the third track on the new project, and from the title alone, you already know the message. It is a praise declaration built around the simple truth that the battle is not ours to fight alone. God is the one who fights for His people.
What makes this one interesting is that Nathaniel Bassey announced the song as one of the main highlights of The Life Recording even before the project came out. In his announcement, he specifically mentioned “THE BATTLE BELONGS TO GOD MEDLEY” alongside tracks like “Glory to God in the Highest” and “New Beauty.” He also described the album as a live worship experience that came out of what he called an experience of the River of Life during the recording.
And you can understand why a song like this fits the project so well. Sometimes you’re going through something and you don’t even know what to say. You just need a reminder that you don’t have to carry everything by yourself. That is where this kind of praise comes in.
The idea behind “The Battle Belongs to God” is also not new to Christian praise and worship. It has been used for generations as a declaration of God’s power over difficult situations. Nathaniel Bassey brings that familiar message into his own live worship setting, giving it the energy of a praise session rather than making it feel like a quiet worship song.
For anyone listening to The Life Recording from beginning to end, this track is where the project really starts moving from worship into celebration. You can imagine this one being played in church, during a praise session, or simply when you need something to lift your spirit.
If you’re dealing with something right now and you’ve been carrying it like everything depends on you, “The Battle Belongs to God” is a good reminder to hand it over to God and praise Him anyway.
