Lara George released “Dansaki” on her 2012 album Higher, which she also called Higher – The Dansaki Album, so the song sat right at the centre of that project.
The official video carries the subtitle “I’m Acknowledging You”, and that’s the heart of it. It’s a worship song that thanks God for His faithfulness, calls Him miracle worker and Prince of Peace, and rides a reggae-leaning groove that invites you to dance.
Before her solo run, Lara sang in the gospel group Kush alongside TY Bello, and her debut hit “Ijoba Orun” made her one of Nigeria’s best loved gospel voices. She went on to win Best Vocal Performance (Female) at The Headies in 2010.

So what does “Dansaki” actually mean?
“Dansaki” is usually rendered in English as “Hail”, and Lara’s own video subtitles the song “I’m Acknowledging You”, which fits a song built around honouring God for who He is. She’s credited as the songwriter, and she sings it mostly in Yoruba with some English, praising God as miracle worker, King and deliverer.
