Artist: Johnson Adjan & His Opiri Group Of Orhokpo
Song: Ogho (2024 Remaster)
Duration: 8:22
Few names carry as much weight in Urhobo music as Johnson Adjan. His songs filled Urhobo homes from the early 1980s, and for many families his voice is part of how they remember growing up.
Born in 1944 and an indigene of Ofuoma-Ughelli, he gave more than fifty years to music. He was known as “Professor” for his deep knowledge of Urhobo oral tradition, and also “Ogburine”, the song warrior. His work was even studied in a University of Ibadan doctoral thesis on the healing power of his songs.
He passed on in June 2026 at the age of 82. “Ogho” is one of the old recordings his band left behind, now restored in a 2024 remaster on the official Topic channel.
