iSokoVibe Community is open to everyone who cares about Isoko, Urhobo and the wider Niger Delta. These rules exist so the place stays worth visiting, and they apply to every discussion, reply and profile on the forum.
Talk to people the way you’d talk in your own compound
Disagree as much as you like, but keep it on the argument and off the person. Insults, curses, tribal attacks and anything mocking somebody’s town, family, religion or accent will be removed, and repeat offenders lose posting access.
You’re free to write in English, Pidgin, Isoko or Urhobo. Nobody gets corrected for their grammar here.
What will get your post taken down
- Insults, threats, harassment or anything that would frighten another member
- Tribal, ethnic or religious hatred of any kind
- Sexual content, nudity, or anything that sexualises a child
- Posting someone’s phone number, address, account details or private photos without their permission
- Claiming to be someone you are not, including artistes, pastors, traditional rulers or iSokoVibe staff
- Rumours presented as fact, especially about deaths, accidents, crime or anything involving a named person
- Links to pirated music, cracked software, betting tips, loan apps, MMM style schemes or anything asking members to send money
- The same message pasted across several discussions
Why your first post may not appear straight away
Every new member’s first post is read by a moderator before it goes live. It’s usually approved the same day. After that your posts publish immediately, and once you’ve taken part in a few discussions you’ll also be able to post links.
New accounts cannot post links, which is the single thing that keeps spammers out of a Nigerian forum.
Music, promotion and pushing your own work
Artistes are welcome here, and so is your music. Put releases, videos and promotion in the board set aside for it rather than dropping links into unrelated discussions. One post per release is enough, and comparing your work to another artiste’s is fine as long as you keep it respectful.
If you want your song covered on the main site, use the song submission page rather than the forum.
Community matters need extra care
Discussions about roads, power, security, kingship, land and local government are welcome, and they’re some of the most useful conversations on this forum. Keep them to issues rather than individuals, and don’t accuse a named person of a crime unless you can point to a published report.
Party politics and campaign material are not allowed anywhere on the forum.
When a moderator steps in
A moderator can edit, move, close or delete any post, and can suspend an account for a few days or permanently depending on what happened. Most of the time you’ll simply get a warning and the post will be removed.
If you think a decision was wrong, use the contact page and explain what happened. Arguing about it inside a discussion just derails the thread for everybody else.
Report anything that breaks these rules
Every post has a Report button under it. Tap it, pick a reason, and a moderator will look at the post. Reports are private, and the person you reported is not told who flagged them.
A few things worth knowing
- You must be 18 or older to hold an account here
- Anything you post is public and can be read by anyone, including people outside the community
- You keep ownership of what you write, and you give iSokoVibe permission to display it on the site
- Your profile photo comes from the email address on your account, through Gravatar
- You can delete your own posts within the editing window, and you can ask us to close your account at any time
These rules will change as the community grows, and the date at the bottom of this page tells you when they were last updated. Isoko gbu Urhobo Wado.
