“Branama” is the song that made Kefee a household name. It was the title track of her album Branama, which came out after she signed with Alec’s Entertainment in 2003 and reportedly sold over two million copies.
Born Kefee Obareki Don Momoh in Sapele, Delta State, she started singing in her church’s children’s choir at eight before going solo, and fans came to call her the “Branama Queen”.
She went on to set up her own production company, Branama Afrique, and in 2009 the United Nations named her an International Young Ambassador for Peace. Kefee passed away in June 2014 in Los Angeles and was laid to rest in Okpara Inland, Delta State.
