Here’s what the song says and why it’s hitting home ahead of the OG Forever album.

Some songs feel like they were written about your own life. Mr P’s new single, “Chukwu Mee,” is one of them.

Peter Okoye, the Afropop star most of us first fell in love with as one half of P-Square, just released the track. It’s about patience, faith and the daily grind. It’s also the lead single from his upcoming album, OG Forever, which is due in November.

Here’s the thing. “Chukwu Mee” doesn’t pretend success happens overnight. There’s no flashy “I made it” energy. Instead, Mr P speaks to anyone who keeps showing up every morning, even when it feels like nothing is moving.

You know that feeling. Working hard, praying harder, and wondering when it’ll finally pay off? That’s exactly where this song lives.
Three languages, one feeling

Mr P moves between English, Nigerian Pidgin and Igbo, and it works. It sounds like how many of us actually talk, switching languages depending on what we’re trying to say.

The title is a simple prayer, asking God to make things turn out well. He isn’t asking for a mountain of riches. He’s asking for the work to count. Many people will relate to that.

Mr P

The song also leans on Igbo sayings about taking things slowly and trusting that hard work eventually pays off. By the time the bridge arrives, the message is clear: no rushing, no forcing, just grace and consistency.

Mr P has been around for over two decades. He’s had massive hits with P-Square, sold-out tours, a solo debut album, The Prodigal, and even a role in the film Lionheart. He also runs P-Classic Records, where he backs new talent.

So when someone with that kind of history makes a song about patience and the long road, it carries weight. It feels like a man who knows the journey, not just the finish line.
It also hints at what’s coming. If “Chukwu Mee” is the first taste, OG Forever may be more reflective than celebratory. Maybe a little of both.

Either way, this one’s for the builders, the dreamers and everyone quietly praying over something. Press play, take a breath, and keep going.

Mr P’s new single Chukwu Mee is a prayer for patience, faith and hard work.
