Here’s the story behind the new song and its video.

What happens when a Latin reggaeton groove lands in Lagos? You get “Let It Go,” the new song from Young Jonn and Desperados.

It’s out now with an official video, and Yung Willis produced it. The whole idea is simple: stop overthinking and enjoy the moment.

Here’s the interesting part. The song isn’t built from scratch. It’s based on a sample of “Guao Guao,” a reggaeton track Desperados made earlier with Venezuelan artist Micro TDH and Colombian producer Ovy On The Drums.

So the Latin heartbeat is still there. But Young Jonn didn’t just copy it. He pulled it into his own world and gave it a Nigerian feel, the kind of rhythm that gets your shoulders moving before you’ve even decided to dance.

Yung Jonn

Honestly, it makes sense. He’s an award-winning producer, songwriter and artist, so taking a foreign flavour and making it sound like home is what he does.
And Yung Willis is no small name either. The Grammy-nominated producer has worked with Wizkid, Davido, Kizz Daniel, Falz, Zlatan, BNXN, Patoranking, Niniola and Ice Prince. That’s a lot of big names.

Picture one of those nights. You only meant to step out for a bit, a friend calls, a song comes on, and next thing you know it’s the night everyone’s still talking about weeks later. That’s the mood this song is chasing.

Desperados says it wants to connect with younger people through music and culture. With this one, it’s tying its Latin roots to the energy of Nigerian nightlife.

Fans get to join in too.
