Selma Blair faces assault charges after an alleged incident on a Delta flight to New York. Her rep cites a medical emergency. Here’s what we know so far.

Selma Blair is trending, and not for a movie.
The actress has been charged with assault after an incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday, October 11. Her representative says it was a medical emergency. Either way, the story has people talking.

According to reports, Blair punched one flight attendant and bit another. She also reportedly tried to open the aircraft door. Yes, while the plane was in the air.

Two crew members were hurt, and one needed hospital treatment.

Things apparently didn’t calm down after landing at JFK. Blair now faces two counts of second-degree assault for allegedly kicking a police officer and a nurse. She was taken into custody and then sent to hospital for a medical evaluation.

Her representative didn’t stay quiet for long. “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct,” the statement read. They also said she’s in stable condition.

Delta, on its part, said it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour and cares deeply about the safety of passengers and crew. Honestly, that’s fair. Nobody wants drama on a plane.

Here’s where it gets interesting. This incident has people looking back at Blair’s 2022 memoir, Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up.

In the book, she admitted to biting a few famous people, including Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Seth MacFarlane. She described these moments as impulsive reactions that came when she felt overwhelmed in social situations. She said she bit MacFarlane’s hand because she was starstruck, and bit Moss at a gathering in London.

Those stories are years old and a very different situation. Still, it’s easy to see why some people are mentioning them now.

For now, the circumstances are still under investigation. Blair is facing serious charges, her team is pointing to a medical emergency, and the full picture hasn’t come out yet.
So it might be wise to hold off on conclusions. We’ll know more as the investigation goes on
