Many women in Warri and surrounding communities in Delta State received much-needed support from the Glo Foundation over the weekend. The initiative, part of Globacom’s “Giving Back Together” program, aimed to alleviate economic hardship by providing essential food and household items to the most vulnerable members of society.

The food distribution event took place at Urhobo College and attracted women from various local government areas, including Warri North, Warri South, Aladja, Ughelli South, Udu, and Uvwie. Many beneficiaries arrived shortly after the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise to collect their food packs.

Each package contained essential items such as 5kg of rice, 5kg of garri, semovita, spaghetti, vegetable oil, tomato paste, sardines, seasoning cubes, noodles, and other household necessities. The gesture sparked scenes of joy, with beneficiaries expressing their gratitude through songs and prayers.

Globacom’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, Mrs. Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, emphasized that the initiative was designed to support women, who often bear the heaviest burden during difficult times. She noted that Delta State was the latest stop for the initiative, following similar exercises in other states.

The Glo Foundation plans to extend this food drive to more cities across the country in the coming months, with thousands of women expected to benefit.
