Before the Europeans brought Christianity to Isokoland in the early part of the 20th Century, the people of Isoko had their traditional religions.
Each clan had a major deity in addition to other smaller deities that were worshiped in the clan.
A particular day or days of the year was usually set aside for the celebration and performance of certain religious rites in honour of the major deity of the clan.
These celebrations were however not for religious purposes only. Cultural displays, economic activities and social interactions combined to make these celebrations grand festivals that people looked up to with great anticipation.

However, Christianity has whittled down the religious significance and importance of these festivals in Isoko Land but they are still important and relevant to the people. Below are some of the festivals in Isoko Land celebrated in the various Isoko clans.
